Security harasses the few people who venture outside. Told an owner he can't video, was using his phone. Made people check backpacks. One was an owners' daughter who had a mini hello kitty backpack.

I have not been to any track recently that does not allow people to use their phones or wear backpacks.

The skeleton of a grandstand is so appropriate.

Complete DISASTER

I've had a love/hate relationship with Hawthorne for almost 60 years.  Plus side:  Got to see Dr Fager win the Gold Cup in person.  Loved watching races on the old 6 furlong turf course with the LONG chute used to start mile races.  Got to meet Dick Biondi who is a friend of a friend.  Got to meet Eddie Olczyk when my wife won a chance to own part of a racehorse with him (her name didn't get drawn.)  Owned part of a pacer who won multiple stakes there.  Had the two best horses I ever owned both win one Saturday afternoon when both my wife and mom were with me.  Hit my biggest ever bet there 3-9-8 trifecta Bill's Daughter, Edgewood Keene, Rozella.  Paid over a grand for $3.00.  Had it for $5.00 straight.  I was in a LOOONG line to bet a $3.00 tri.  Probably woulda got shut out.  A friend found me by accident.  Asked what I liked.  Told him 3-9-8 tri straight.  He offered to buy half of a $10.00 ticket (much shorter line).  Afterward I cashed and signed because he was making more money than I was.  The next week he got drafted and sent overseas.   

On the negative side: Many of the workers there have been rude assholes for 60 years.  Part of the job description?  The food has been lousy and overpriced for 60 years.  The first time I took my future wife there (right after it was rebuilt) some asshole grabbed her ass coming down the escalator as we were going up.  WTF?  And you guys know the story about the casino.
