You are correct sir. It amazed me that no one really figured that out, however that game was directed at rich, old Jewish widows.

Formerly Danai Jai Alai, now The Casino @ Dania Beach was a short ride from my house in Hollywood when I lived down south.  I'd go there for poker, and simulcasting.  Never bet a Jai alai match, but watched them play - pretty cool.

The former President of the old company let us host a charitable comedy show, before he upped and moved his life and career to Vegas.   tmbz1

My mistake! I only sent a few to Sportsman and I thought Stan Banks also drove at one time but that may be incorrect. At any rate you both know your shit.
Yes Stan Banks was a top tier Ow/Tr/Dr/Breeder/ Catch driver/ farm owner ,and all around fun guy to be around.
To a lesser degree his brothers Dwight and Les. Fun guys to be around, but just not the success Stan got.
What major Maywood stake race did Dwight win with Black Shadow?

In 1980 why was Burgomeister the sentimental favorite to win The Hambletonian?
.

It was Peter’s horse and tragically he was killed in a car wreck earlier in the year.

Yes you are right again.
My favorite Peter Haughton story.
Peter and two grooms with the horses Hello Tomorrow and DR.Dewers ship into Hughsville, PA. for 16 year old Peter's first go as a driver.
The Brookledge van leaves them there to race the next day.
The grooms have their beds and no problem sleeping in front of the stalls.
Peter on the other hand has no bed.
Peter puts together a couple hay bales, throws on a horse blanket or two, and takes a race bike cushion for a pillow.
All is well.
Early the next morning a newspaper photographer is taking pictures of the fair for the afternoon edition.
On the front page is Peter Haughton under the horse blankets sleeping on the hay bales.
The caption read,
Stableboy Resting at The Fair.
Peter didn't like being called a stableboy!
Was I there?  Yes
Was I also in Peter's first races? Maybe

Frank T Ace

Wasn't it Saul Finkelstein who owned Frank T Ace along with his daughter before the famous claim?

Do you remember Cold Front and Angelo Pelillo. I had two nice colts from Cold Front and both were medium level B pacers.

Old Guy,
The horse is in your pasture.
How about you give us a good story or question.

Ok. Let me try this: Yonkers had an invitational pace featuring Cardigan Bay and Bret Hanover. What front runner was also invited to assure fast fractions?
Who drove him?
