This shouldn't be to hard if you work backwards.
With the standard 5% for training and 5% for driving, you would need more then one horse in the race , or if just one horse the purse would have to be over two million. How many races have gone for over two million?

Yes Yes Thanks old guy. He wouldn't admit it, but he sold more shoes then Bret could ever have worn.
So if anyone has a set of Bret shoes hanging on the wall from your grandfather, they may well have come off a $2,500 claimer.

No not this time.
Del Insko as tr/dr won going for over $2 million with Land Grant.

Good guess through.
One year Eldon had a punch of Leigh Hanover colts at Pocono. He kept bitching that the head of the toteboard was the Leigh Hanover stopping pole.

A really nice horse, a JFA at Yonkers and Roosevelt. The driver was blind in one eye and his name is on the tip of my tongue.
I can still see him in the sulky. Might his name be Henry Thomas or something like that?

Please Don't give up my friend.
See if you can guess this.
Atlantic City Race Course  early 70's
Aftert the races I walk into the horseman's parking lot.
There just kind of walking around is one of my many idols of that era. He had been there to drive Meadow Split.
I say something like"Is everything ok"?
Who was he?
Why was he just walking around?

In the 70's Jack Keiser wrote a horse racing column for an east coast newspaper.
It was required reading every morning in the track kitchen.
Keiser hated Stanley Dancer.
He wrote that the only way Stanley could win a race was to have 2or3 seconds on the field, and just go down the road.
He also wrote that the only guy Stanley could out drive was ???  ??? the dr/tr of ???  ???.  The arch enemy of Most Happy Fella.

Bernny  was a long time groom back in the day.
He would get drunk every weekend.
When drunk he would keep repeating
"You got to ??? today because you are going to be a long time ???"
Can you fill in the blanks?
