What about that detailed article from the track that the purses would be going up nearly 70% due to the Casino? Why would that be printed?

Looks like a purse decrease of 200$-400$ per race

Reliable sources say that they are taking the extra money from the casinos and remodeling the barn area. They figure this work needs to be done to attract new stables when the purses do go up.

Monticello races have a very nice niche betting clientele and they exceed many tracks in handles.  They did around $780,000 today on 9 races.

Monticello Raceway should be condemned. Has anyone been there in recent years to see what’s left of the once very nice track? No grandstand, nothing to eat and a simulcast area big enough for maybe 20 people. The same people have been showing up there for years. It is disgusting and pathetic.

No need to fix the grandstand or serve food for the 20 people that are there. Plenty of choices 1 mile up the road. It's the same at every race track. 85 to 90% of the betting is coming from home, office or anywhere you are with your phone. Very few people go to the track anymore unless it's a big event day.

Just looking forward to the day when all of the races are non betting. No need to have any wagering. Just run the races with the casino money purses and make them non betting. Then it would be fun to bet your money in a casino where you have a slight chance of winning but you won’t be cheated.

Plenty of fairs to watch non-betting races if that is your thing.

Just make no betting at all of the big tracks too. Keep the purses the same with the casino slot money but all racetracks non betting. That way the public can’t get cheated. If you wanna gamble just go inside to play at the casino. Then harness racing will eventually die off
