The runners return to Pocono
« on: February 26, 2023, 05:55:33 PM »
Old timers may remember Pocono had flat racing for quite a few years. Today’s 4th race apparently had two horses who longed for the good old days.

Neither driver made an attempt to bring horse back on gait.

I'd make both horses requalify at least twice, and the drivers drive in 9 Qua. races before I'd let either one drive in a PM race again! Trying to understand the logic of letting them gallop around the track with no attempt to get them at least back on stride. If they showed some attempt and couldn't then ok, but to just let them gallop and possibly get hung up in the rigging and fall is beyond comprehension.

Maybe the trainers should work them from the gate at Parx!

Isn't failure to control your horse a fine?  You'd think Simon would be able to control a big sweaty animal.  Isn't that his specialty?   ngc3
