I think it's important to emphasize and put into perspective just how reprehensible two acts by Donald Trump that we learned about last week truly are.
First, his narcissistic and disgraceful decision to skip the 25th anniversary ceremony of the 9/11 attacks because they wouldn't allow him to give a speech — a policy that's been around for years, as they want to keep Ground Zero apolitical and nonpartisan.
Since they wouldn't let him do what he always does — try to make that day about himself — he essentially threw a hissy fit, refused to go, and now he'll be attending ceremonies at the Pentagon, where he's going to give a speech.
The White House comically claimed he wasn't going to New York City because JD Vance was going to be there, and due to security concerns, they can't be at the same place at the same time.
Yeah, because I'm sure if Trump really wanted to go, Vance was going to override the president and show up anyway. It's just another example of how stupid this administration thinks the American people are.
Then Trump claimed he's not going to New York because he's reluctantly the "featured speaker" at the Pentagon and he'd rather actually not be speaking because he "speaks all the time."
What a load of horsesh*t.
Trump's not going to New York City that day because he's a weak, pathetic, insecure narcissist who wanted to give a speech so that he could tie himself to the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, make the event about promoting himself ahead of the midterms, and they told him no.
So, like always, when Trump doesn't get what he wants, he throws a little temper tantrum and effectively "takes his ball and goes home."
He's such a loser.
Then we learned that he's threatening to tear down the Kennedy Center, which is literally a memorial to a slain president, because he was forced to remove his name from that building.
Trump and this administration of sycophants can spout all the lies they want about the building "needing renovations, otherwise it might need to be torn down" — it's all bullsh*t.
Donald Trump tried to disgrace this building by renaming it after himself, the courts made him remove it, and now, like he always does when he doesn't get his way — much like with his inability to give a speech at the 9/11 ceremony in New York City — he's throwing another hissy fit.
He's literally threatening to tear down a memorial to a former president who was killed while in office because he would rather do that than simply accept that he didn't get his way and move on.
Let that really sink in — just how inexcusable and deplorable a threat that is.
"Give me what I want and allow me to put my name on a building — or I'm tearing it down."
Again, imagine if any Democrat did any of this. The Republican Party and the conservative media would be going ballistic. Yet, in Trump's world, it's just more of the same: a president who really has no bottom to how low he will go in order to try to get his way on something.
It's the same mindset he's had with the Reflecting Pool. Even after his own Department of Justice debunked his lies and conspiracies in court by admitting that the surface failures at the pool were due to faulty installation, refusing to admit defeat or that he had done anything wrong, Trump doubled and tripled down on his debunked conspiracies and claimed it was "vandalism." This president would literally rather prosecute innocent Americans and ruin their lives than simply admit he did anything wrong or made a mistake.
The same way he would rather tear down a memorial to a former president than simply admit defeat, remove his name, and go on with his pathetic life.
Just like he would rather skip honoring the victims of 9/11 in New York City because they wouldn't allow him to give a speech to turn the ceremony into a quasi-MAGA rally where he used that day to make it about himself — which we all know is exactly what he would do.
Over and over, just when you think there's no way Donald Trump could sink lower than he's already sunk — that there's no way he could become an even bigger embarrassment and disgrace — you really just need to give him time.
Because he can always go lower, be more embarrassing, and act more disgracefully.
