USTA, what they do, what they now try to do, and what.....
« on: June 04, 2025, 05:51:14 PM »
And what do they have the authority to do?

From the USTA website:

What does the U.S. Trotting Association do and why should I join? These are key questions to those who participate in the sport of harness racing and own or breed Standardbred horses, and although the mission of the association has changed over the years, the services it provides to its members remain substantial.

The U.S. Trotting Association is a not-for-profit association of Standardbred owners, breeders, drivers, trainers, and officials, organized to provide administrative, rulemaking, licensing and breed registry services to its members.

Our mission is to:
License owners, trainers, drivers and officials.
Formulate the rules of racing.
Maintain and disseminate racing information and records.
Serve as the registry for the Standardbred breed.
Endeavor to ensure the integrity of harness racing.
Insist on the humane treatment of Standardbreds.
Promote the sport of harness racing and the Standardbred breed.

I underline the word "endeavor"---because I wonder in what context are they using the word? As in an attempt or effort to do or achieve something? As in trying hard, a deliberate and intentional effort to do something? Obviously I am not a fan of the USTA. They have no governing authority in this specific arena. While they fined Diamond Creek, I absolutely see how Diamond Creek's membership and business operations fall under the USTA purview. I still think it's deplorable that the USTA Chairman has an inherent and IMO unwaivable conflict, but of course the USTA thinks that's perfectly fine.

I don't agree with their very new, and very late, efforts at governance, and the primary reason is because they are coupled with sabotaging and divisive efforts as well. I think this sport and industry would be far worse off with the USTA being the overall, overriding, governing body. I see them as inept as it relates to this arena. Where have you been for the last 30 or 40 years? Even more? I think what they are doing today is posturing, justifying their existence, their jobs, and whatever role they have left in the industry. Keep them. Let them do their record-keeping, registry services and activities, all that. But when it comes to the integrity of racing, catching criminals, trying them, punishing them, and enforcing that punishment, they are simply showing up to a world war with a pocket knife.

Yet still have to power to put your lights out with an executive meeting under Section 1 Article 4 deeming ANYONE detrimental and revoking their membership with NO due process. It's happening right now. While others are banned for far less, individuals like Nick Devita who I have posted some of the most damning evidence of purchasing and using Equestology's most dangerous PED called BB3, he's racing everywhere. And his primary owner is also documented purchasing that same garbage and more. A membership supported not for profit 501c6 where you have no right to a fair hearing or defend yourself against these determinations. Yerrrr OUT! Unless you are a member of "the club". Right RUSSELL WILLIAMS??? Problems at home are no excuse for complacency.

Me and my dirt bag associates? Overcompensating and deflecting there a bit, since you don't know me.

You like apples? Actually, I want someone bigger, better, more powerful, to regulate everyone. I want HISA to do it, in conjunction with the ARCI, and each state's AG, and more, and I want the former and the AG's to be able to force any racing commission or governing body to carry out and enforce the punishment. HISA has already proven they could and they have already done more and a better job. How about them apples? But, you wouldn't get that. Only one reason being because you accuse and name call without facts; and if you do it under the guise of an opinion, that's fine, so then don't get better, just get lost.

Here's another opinion. You don't know most of the professional players in the country. Only someone with an enormously misguided ego would believe that about themselves.

I am pro horseplayer and rally against caws and people like yourself who try to big time people into thinking caws aren't a substantial evil. I'm also pro animal and horse and welcome any and all regulation against bad actors. Im not opposed to any organization going after people dealing with nick surick while he's locked up. I dont try to bigtime people on the internet in an attempt to discredit anyone going after those creeps. You may think I'm stupid but one thing I know for certain is that I am nothing like you

pocketrocketwinne r.....I will tell you i'm grossly ignorant on how caws actually work. As someone who love going to the tracks to bet rather than online, I know many now gamble off-track. As for bad actors, I too would love to see them "out of the game". I can't stand the "cheaters" throughout harness racing. Problem is, I don't think any authority can "weed" them all out.

The CAW’s are unknown entity. I’ve read a little bit about them and they bet millions each year, that’s been documented. Not much more is known after that

HISA is a great theory but it’s government run and anything government runs is bloated. At an average of $400 a starter it would bankrupt harness racing. USTA is the only logical choice but new leadership and rules would have to be implemented.
