Trump Traded More in One Month Than Pelosi Made in 37 Years in Congress
For years, Republicans have hammered Nancy Pelosi as the face of congressional stock trading, going as far as introducing a bill named after her to ban it. Trump's own June disclosure just made that talking point look absurd.
Trump's latest ethics filing shows he made more than 1,000 stock trades in a single month, moving between $78.1 million and $263.1 million through his portfolio. Nancy Pelosi and her husband, over her entire 37 year career in Congress, are estimated to have profited around $130 million total, a massive number on its own, but one Trump's single month of trading volume already rivals or exceeds.
The comparison isn't perfect. Trump's number reflects total buying and selling activity in June, while Pelosi's reflects cumulative profit built up over nearly four decades. But that distinction only sharpens the point. Trump is running that much money through the market in 30 days, as a sitting president shaping the very policies that move those markets, while his own party spent years demanding transparency and reform aimed squarely at Pelosi.
The double standard is hard to miss. One political party, one set of rules for stock trading while in public office, and two very different reactions depending on whose name is on the filing.
