Who went down in the finale at Northfield?
« on: November 09, 2025, 11:59:15 PM »
I had the 4/A in the double and loved the 9 to win. Merriman on the 9 is third going to the half and sits in. I figured he as stiffing the thing. Next thing the announcer is saying a horse went down and that the race is a no contest. It all happened in a matter of seconds. It wasn't on camera. They shut down the feed after a couple of minutes.

Had to be #8.  Was trailing the field in 9th, and then only 8 horses were left in the pan shot.

Don't know why she went down but eventually she got up and was ok, just scraped up.
Nfld and Mohawk both with no contests in their finales...weird coincidence.

Thank You JC- have you seen or heard anything about LegendOfTheIndian? Went down a couple weeks back at Northfield and haven't seen or heard anything about it.

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
