Kentucky Downs has or is raising the minimum wager to $5. WPS and gimmicks alike. The posted results will make it look like there's magnificent value in the R.O.I. at first glance. This should be interesting to say the least!

$5 total bet on exotics or $5 straight bet? Do I have to bet $5 on a superfecta key with multiple horses in each spot or the total bet has to be more than $5?

The late Pick 3 is a $3 minimum and late DD a $5 minimum, no other changes other than some lower takeouts. If they see it's hurting the handle they'll probably drop the $5 minimum on W-P-S.

higher minimum wagers produce better payoffs
bettors are less likely to play 20/1 shots in exactas if the minimum was $5
when Parx was called Keystone in the late 70s and 80s--the minimum exacta base was $3 and the payoffs were very nice
make superfectas/pentafectas a $1 min and lets get rid of the dime superfecta player who is just playing bingo or his license plate or address

When trifectas first came out a long time ago, in alot of states it was a $3 minimum, straight wager but think they had a $6 box too, and there were only one or two on an entire card, superfectas weren't around back then.
