It was a NYS order, to cancel racing today, but Saratoga raced, Lets see if any of you have a brain, take your best shot.. why?
-
Ill answer it for you, money and power..something harness racing does not have.
-
They posted "non smoking" signs through out the track?
73cv.2
-
the air quality in NYC was listed as "unhealthy"
the air quality in Saratoga Springs was listed as "moderate"
I am viewing the conditions as of 5PM EST
-
nyc air quality number was at 103, saratoga was at 352 at noon . how the t breds run and yonkers can’t is ridiculous.
-
Thank you, you get it. The idiot above is posting air quality at 5 oclock...monti was 12pm post. Nevermind that, he forget the fact that NYS ordered no racing
-
Philly is running what's the air quality there?
-
There wasnt an "order" like NYS put out.. im asking why, saratoga was able to go against an order? What does Philly have to do with this? I asked for ppl with brains to comment.
-
Just asking a question asshole

calm down jerkoff
the air quality is forecasted to get worse as the day and night go on
Saratoga air quality wasn't as nearly as bad as NYC and they finished their card before it gets worse
The Mets-Phillies game was moved up one hour because the air quality will deteriorate hour by hour
Yonkers races at night dickhead
sorry the facts get in your way and don't fit your narrative
-
Saratoga T-breds make money and want to race. The others lose money, give two fucks and would
just as soon bank the purse money and operating costs. Orders are over-rated. Just ask Trump. ;D
-
Listen here jerkoff..there was a "NYS Order" to not race today.. explain why saratoga, doesnt follow those rules.. another fuckin brainless moron.
-

Here's hoping that the day that Yonkers 'CANCELS' for good comes soon.

yes I had a answer but you refuse to believe facts
...... the order does not apply to the entire state--it is based the AQI at the track(to dumb that down even more..that means air quality index)
what part don't you understand? ngc3 73cv.2

Not sure if you can grasp this....

You seem to be looking for some mysterious underlying reason. Obviously Saratoga said fuck your order,
IF indeed there was a 'Statewide' order. What are you gonna do about it besides whining about your welfare
money being taken away for a day? The Commission? Fine them? ngc3 Like they care. Take away a race date
out of their prestigious meet and piss thousands of people off who have spend tons of money on lodging and
made plans WAY in advance? Don't think so. You cancel Monti and Yonkers you affect like 3or4 hundred people
total. Grooms, trainers, drivers, concessions, other misc. staff and fans. Apples and oranges.

The air quality index (AQI) in Saratoga Springs, New York, peaked in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range today, reaching a high of 116 during the afternoon. Fine particulate matter (\(PM_{2.5}\)) from smoke was the primary pollutant, prompting the New York Department of Environmental Conservation to issue a statewide air quality health advisory. While the morning saw cleaner air, afternoon and evening levels in Saratoga County hovered around index scores of 114 to 116
these levels are well within the AQI rules that NY has on equine health
Saratoga did not violate any state rules

I'm no expert, but I'll take a shot.
The Gaming Commission sets a level (measurement) beyond which it is unsafe to race and the races are cancelled.
Today, one of the track locations measured below that level and the other was above.
Below raced.
Above cancelled.

For the actual verbiage”
While the AQI is under 150:
Horsepersons should monitor their horses for signs of respiratory inflammation and contact their attending veterinarian to evaluate horses exhibiting coughing, respiratory distress, nasal discharge, or fever.
It is otherwise safe to exercise or race horses at these AQI levels.
Once the AQI reaches 150:
The chief veterinarian of the racing association at which training or racing is conducted shall contact the stewards or presiding judges and track management to advise them of the presence of an elevated AQI.
The chief veterinarian, stewards or presiding judges, horsepersons, jockeys, drivers, outriders, and racetrack management shall collectively determine whether to cancel racing.
The steward or presiding judge and equine medical director retains authority to unilaterally intervene, as they determine circumstances warrant.
Provided that:
If the AQI is between 151 and 200:
No horse will be allowed to workout or race unless their attending veterinarian certifies that the horse will not be adversely affected by the elevated AQI.
If an entered horse evidenced a respiratory issue, the horse must be declared unfit and scratched without penalty. Under present practice, the horse would be placed on the Veterinarian’s List when scratched.
Horses declared fit to race must be closely scrutinized before and after racing to ensure that they are not experiencing clinical signs of respiratory distress. Pre-race examinations of association veterinarians should include auscultation of the lungs and airways.
If the AQI reaches 201:
No racing or training may be conducted.
I checked Tioga earlier today and it was at 195.
Right now at 7:40pm, it’s 165
