Title: Nonsensical

Someone will have to explain to me why M1 named the Mares Open Trot and Pace after 2 studs.

If they had a brain, they'd change them to Shartin N and Hannelore Hanover.

Shartin N has the record for the fastest aged pacing mare, and Manchego and Atlanta share the record for fastest aged trotting mare, so agree on the Shartin, but if we are splitting hairs then the trot might be called the Manchego or the Atlanta...BUT I agree that someone had a "brain fart" when they named those two absurdly!!

The reason I said Hannelore Hanover was because she raced longer than the other two.

Any would be a good choice.  But Shartin and Atlanta would be my choice.

Mike and others, I agree that it makes no sense and the mares listed deserve the honor and recognition. It must relate to MONEY with the syndicates for Six Pack and Perfect Sting sponsoring the races for advertising and the track gets money for the purses. Similar to sports stadiums being named after corporations. One gets money and the other gets advertising.
