Absolutely awful and every farm's worst nightmare.

There was a barn fire at Hazel Park years ago and myself and my friend got 6 horses out and took them to the clear and turned them loose so we could go back for more. When the fire was out and daylight came we were stunned by the fact that 4 of them we saved were found dead in the rubble. We we told by an older trainer that they have a "homing instinct "and that's why they went back in. That was about 35 years ago and I still wonder if it's true or not every time I see a barn fire story!🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

I heard years ago that they will run back into a fire.

IS THERE A LIST OF HORSES THAT HAVE PASSED IN THE FIRE?
-
They run back in cause that's where they sleep ,eat, get ready to train, and when they want to left alone they are in their stalls. It's a condition reflex.

3 standardbreds, 2 quarter horses and 1 thoroughbred. No names yet. Prayers to the horses and everyone involved.

I hope that none of the horses that perished were imoble due to recent injuries or procedures. Burning 🔥 is a horrible way to go,but to stand or lay there and not be able to move has to make it 100 times worse! I hope they are all in a Bluegrass field without any insects for eternity 🙏!

Smoke Inhalation would get them first. Either way it's a shitty way to die.
