Madden Oaks has been retired and will stand at Winbak Farms of NY for an initial stud fee of $5000 in 2026.

please, enough already

Flooding the market with crap, nice horse, had a great year but 5G's. Sorry there are a number of better values. I'd get him sound and race him next year unless he's cooked and they know it. The Boyd kid did a great job, can't take that away from him. If he hadn't got the big wins nobody would know the horse.

New York sires are going for top dollar. Courtley Choice price is $6000.
-
$5k, high?, low?, unproven - yes, as always. Not my thing anyway. Here is a story with the Meadowlands Pace race too. Did MO get interfered, yes, did it cost him the win, no. PHH was robbed, and proved he was the superstar this year of the two horses, and most all of the 3 yos.

$5,000 is crazy for a horse that wins the Meadowlands Pace and next start struggles to win a nw at Tioga. Very inconsistent… for a grand more you can get Cannibal or for a grand less American Courage.

He didn't win the Meadowlands Pace, the dq was bullshit, he was put up. That * is important. In MO's defense, if DD was on him he probably would of won for fun, and more races too.
Was a good 3 yo, I guess we'll find out if he's even a good sire.

ngc3
Nasty buy funny ngc3, DD for BB, couldn't of hurt though ngc3
-
And remember MCR I said "good", like our old report cards....
Fail - Fair - Good - Very Good - Excellent
I didn't want Good to translate to Superstar because I'm not in total disagreement with you.
Prince Hal Hanover, man that horse has heart, and took a cheap shot with that dq, and raced after like he actually knew it too. ;D

this is getting ridiculous now...are there even mares for these average horses to cover at this point. I can see the top couple retiring. I dont see any fervor for a horse like Madden Oaks or even Captain Optimstic. What is the point. Hundreds at stud but yet a racing shortage...doesnt sound healthy

It looks pretty obvious. Went from above avg to avg, now can't run a lick anymore?, what choice do they have?

They will learn there is no market. If they had any brains they would have cosigned to Harrisburg and let the big outfits torch some serious money their way. But, alas, this game is filled with morons.

No offense, and sure, anyone would like to have owned him, but all in all, MO is just a horse. He had a day or two in the sun-----and put up for the biggest-----but he's just another 3yo who won't come back at 4, so they monetize him. More dilution of the breeding pool, more backyard breeders, more garbage foals, more people losing money. Especially at $5k. OK, so the positive is that he's in NY, with a strong sire stakes program, so maybe he'll be/do fair. Winbak was always about the #'s, quantity over quality.

would Simon get a free breeding?
