Title: SPA Day XXVII, Friday, 8/15/25
Post by: Trigger on August 15, 2025, 01:52:17 AM
Every weekday non-holiday SPA day card looks the same.  The weather looks really nice there tomorrow.  Mediocre humidity, no rain expected.  FAST & FIRM likely.  Temperature is foretasted from high the 70's to mid 80's.

Some of the regular jocks / SPA jocks will be at Woodbine on Saturday, (tomorrow) for that big stakes card - The E. P. Taylor $750k (GI), The Kings Plate $1mil are some of those stakes there.  Prat has already flown the coop, interesting.

My budget going into today is $876, at least that's what the wagers added up to prior of course to any potential scratches.  Here's my selections (below), and I'll be hitting in these mostly stakes races at these tracks.  Good Luck!  ;D

SPA ($91)

9th (545pm) -  57 / 75 / all

Meadows ($404)

3rd (550pm) - 7 / all

5th (630pm) - 35 / 53 / all

8th (730pm) - 2 / 23468 / all

Mohawk ($166)

6th (840pm) - 45 / 1245

10th (1012pm) - 4 / all

Hoosier ($112)

12th (943pm) - 1 / 134 / all

Yonkers ($103)

5th (805pm) - 2 / 23 / 2367 / all

Going to start out with 2 pick 5's on a TGIF because I'm sick of working in 100 degree heat. Spa shortly..
Gulfstream Park
2,3,4,7/8/1,3,5,7/1,3,4,7/1,6,10
$96 bucks
If the single can get through I like my chances.

JT is running a bit icy today, he couldn't win with an all  ngc3, sorry bro you shake this entire day off!

You've kept an unreal pace, figure it out, maybe have to start drinking heavily again!  Seriously, it's likely a one off, just relax, no big whoop, you'll figure it out!  tmbz1

It's that fucking sun draining JT - it's too oppressive to be out there working!

I tell my guys, sunrise is at 7, do 4 hours out and then in,or just keep working in and maybe we'll get lucky in a week.  You think they listen, nope.

We're upgrading and improving 2 apts, and on the outside putting gates, surveillance, power / pressure washing walk ways and stairs, trimming trees, and new pool furn.

Twirling is who I am following, i.e. in my virtual stable.

I went with the longshot 7, why, won a G3, this is Irad's horse and he jumped to the 1  - today the 1 gets scratched. Can you imagine I tossed the 6 pretty much!    ngc3

Interesting.. I guess Romero hadn't been at the Finger recently.. I could of sworn he was

He had 5 mounts listed there on 8/11, a 2nd, two 4ths and a 5 and 6 finish.  Who knows if these stats are accurate.  He's a 7-8% jockey on the bigger circuit, I think you're right of what he should be there, about 4th sounds right.

I hate rooting against myself.  Hate it.  I lost track of time, my hand writing sux, so I'm oh the 5th is going off, wait I scheduled bets for the 5th lol.  Trying to bet off winnings not deposits as punishment so I'm not advancing the days wagers.

That race was set up perfectly for you until 7 came first over and set up the 4..Never underestimate the Bongiorno drugs.. especially at Yonkers.  I hate Yonkers with a passion. I hope they close that shithole down when MGM pulls the plug.

Yonkers has is and will always be run by really bad people. Races are an exhibition, pre determined by the best ( worst) scumbags in the business.  At Meadows, I only missed races 2 and 7. Both singles of course. But some of the rolling DDS have paid well. Still live in the late p5.

Agree completely and I once called that place, home.

I didn't even realize there was minor bridge jumper money on the 3, otherwise $13 bux is a damn good show price would of thrown a 100 there.  27-1 that much faith lol.

Next 2 races wagers:

The Meadows (H)                104.00

Nice job bello, we all don't win at the same time doing other stuff, but very glad to see that!

The #8 in Meadows 12th was a co-fav at Northfield last race got locked in just about 100% of the race.

Problem with harness of course is pools ( like tioga where I am sweeping the field but could not make a big bet) or chalk. For me  winners at both tracks jump off the page. Sometimes like the finale at Harrahs Phillie, people dont know when a good driver and trainer come to town from other tracks and they are very good. You can make a nice score.

So I just started tomorrows Spa handicapping and immediately got a headache looking for winners. Harness is so much easier. Maybe because iI have been around it since I was a kid.

Tonight is a prime example as to why I rarely play Del-Mar.. way to tough 6 races and I've got 2 correct even spreading that much

I have been around Harness my whole life and yes it's much easier to Handicap for me as well. If the Harness tracks had any kind of pools for pick 4's and 5's that is what I'd play.. there just isn't big money to be made unfortunately. Shit the late pick 4 at Del-Mar had over $400,000 in it. On Harness you are lucky to get 4,000 at most tracks although I did fire in a late pick 5 at Hoosier because there was a carryover

It breaks just about even plus I have a free $2 dd with all in the 13th, I'll take it, thanks.

How I got the horse is a better story, guy starts this thread and doesn't say why.  I watch the race and catch the horse, put it my virtual stable shoots me an email same day, today the 8 is running, I amended by bets and added.

Atlee Bender is awful, but I understand why you had him with it being an Erv Miller trainee. Hoosier is tough. I usually bet more on drivers and driver changes there then anything. 1,2,and 4 are my numbers so to speak. During LBJ week I box a 1,2,4 trifecta for 6 bucks every race all week, on top of my handicapping bets.I've done that at least for 20 years. Sometimes it works out sometimes not
