First time in long time 'that horse guy' sits down for a 15 minuter.
Into your donut shop, while youre doing your early morning perusal of that day's program(s), an old vet might sit down for his latest not-so-brief synopsis on how to beat the ponies. WELL. IT HAPPENED THIS WED MORN at my east end Toronto haunt.
Coffee and cinnamon twist move over..the vet about to impart his theory (his latest theory). And lo and behold his focus was not Mohawk but Monticello...toda y's Monti program i had open in front of me.
He says to me: "I'll be betting $5 exactors today with the post time favorite on bottom of ticket. No program..just hit the $5 button with 2nd 3rd and 4th choices on top =$15.
First 6 races of todays card..minimium 6 horses."
I said "WHAT?"
He said. "CAUSE THEY HAVENT BEEN SECOND MUCH LATELY."
I said "WHAT???" again.
At that moment he told me open my phone and look at last 30 Monticello results over last 4 racedays
He says..
"See.. Last week Wed, Thu and then this week Mon Tue
30 races total: 17 faves have won..just 4 have seconded.
So... they're due for more seconds."
So I respond..."TRUST ME NON PROGRAM VET PLAYER. That 90 bucks today is in great jeopardy...and for his sake I hope I'm wrong.....BUT Monticello runs with all or none strategy. Post time faves either win or miss the exactor!!! Most B tracks play that way."
"Old vet, your heart is in right place, but making up today for missing fave seconditis the last few days at that joint aint it.
He Says: "we'll see".
PLOPSTERS:
I WILL FOLLOW HIS ACTION TODAY AND REPORT BACK AFTERWARDS. No program..minimum 6 horses races..over first six races there today. Keying post time fave (so he'll bet as they get ready to leave) underneath 2nd,3rd,4th choices at $5 a whack.
Stay tuned..ive got coffee and pastry choice for him when I see him again.
