Just have a sit down with Mr. Gural and say you're going through a tough time. No problem, just put your brother down.
When Mickey (Sr.) first started, in the early 80's, he was a part-time trainer and had another job. For some reason I am thinking it was something in the auto industry I think. When he went full-time, at some point he became a quasi-private trainer for George Leon (at the Meadows, in the late 80's). He was racing at the Meadows, occasionally in OH, and he was a high-percentage trainer then. After a falling out with George, he started training for himself, had an owner or two, and was still a high-percentage trainer at the Meadows. He first appeared at the Meadowlands in the late 80's, early 90's, with a couple of horses and did well. Sold a few, bought a few more down, etc. He kept a small stable at the Meadows that grew over time, and a few at the Meadowlands as well. That was the beginning of when he got on a real roll. Ronnie was working for him and so was Mickey Jr, but it was Mickey Sr. who had his name in the program at first. Bokman was based in NJ back then. I have no idea about the Bokman connection or rumors.
It actually looks like testing doesn't matter anymore so why even test these races. It looks like the industry is trying to test its way out of business. Stop all this testing and you will actually have people that will compete because then it will be fair. Well I mean it will be more fair than it is now. Now you're fine and days all depend on how many horses you race. If you have a lot of horses you don't get fined and days well maybe a little fine here and there but you never get days.
Barry Betts was his vet. His original partner was Oldfield. He was on his own before he hooked up with George, they had a great relationship till George lost his money in the casino. The stable turned around when Ronnie got interested in the business, he and Weaver built the brigade into what it is.
