Garcia-Hererra has dropped Austin Siegelman as their regular driver. Could be the end of his days at Yonkers raceway. He is a good driver, but something happened? Saturday and Monday he is driving horses that have no chance of winning.

AUSTIN WAS SUBBING FOR MARK MAC ANYWAY UNTIL HE RETURNS

and AS wins saturdays opener at 23-1

and now the early double, famous last words "horses that have no chance".
-
Very good driver, but there are only a few drivers needed.
-
bottom line he refused to send the big horse and Gilbert wanted him sent last week. Even though he won on the front with Jason he was all out doing so.

Austin comes from nice family! Father, a career horseman and mom lovely lady! Paid his dues for quite a while and deserves the opportunity to do better! As far as drivers listening to trainers' instructions. Depends who the trainer is! Drove for many years and will accommodate trainers who legitimately know their stock and/or have driving experience of their own! Will never listen to a proven bone head! Incidentally, I will rarely use a driver that's ego is so inflated that he purposely does the opposite of my recommendation!

Harness trainer almost never tell driver how to dtive. Youcan have a plan but when gait opens all plans off sometimes. Just leave it up to driver, they can figure it out
-
Yeah, and sometimes they can't! Nothing like working hard to get one ready and driver never puts him in the race!

Most of the time i was just told to drive em like my mom was the owner and i was the trainer. Like swedge said, once the gate folds plans often change in a hurry. Early in my career i was in a race where there was absolutely no gate speed. I had the 2 hole so i figured i would rush the gate and easily make the front and steal one. Unfortunately so did everyone else. We were 7 wide into the first turn.

Good drivers don't need instructions from the trainer.
Bad drivers can't follow them anyway.
