With all that Ron Burke has on his plate, why does he want to run and unseat Russell Williams for USTA director?I am guessing there is more to it then meets the eye.
Despite managing the largest and most successful racing stable in Standardbred history, Hall of Fame trainer Ron Burke (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fg%2F11jd84_x6v&q=Ron+Burke) decided to challenge incumbent USTA President Russell Williams for the District 7 membership director seat in the 2026 USTA Board of Directors elections. He expressed that strengthening harness racing is a "personal responsibility to today's horsemen and to those who follow". He believes this hands-on background gives him a better understanding of how USTA policies directly impact the livelihoods of working horsemen. [1] (https://ustrottingnews.com/us-trotting-elections-district-7-one-seat/)• Specific Policy Priorities: His stated campaign priorities focus on actively supporting horsemen, pursuing fair and standardized medication rules, promoting responsible horse aftercare, and protecting the economic and breeding foundations of harness racing. Thanks for the update.I think there is more to it then what is made public. If it was an open seat, then go for it.Why go after the larges breeder in your home state?I smell a skunk in the wood pile.
That is one way to look at it. If Burke was to be President of the USTA, do you think he should step down as managing partner of Burke breeders, owners trainer and general manager. Or, do not forsee a conflict?
