Mike, my favorite "Superstar" was Silk Stockings. I remember a jam packed Monticello Raceway when that amazing filly paced 157.3 in the 1st Monticello-OTB Classic in 1975. Preston Burris, Jr., a driver not very well known to the fans made history as she whipped a really good field of horses. A great day for a "Superstar"!

Mike the late Barry Abrams was a good friend of mine he did a hell of a job with Guts.

I had lunch with Barry Abrams at Los Alamitos over 35 years ago. Unlike "G" who makes his lunch dates up. I heard G finds a picture of people in harness racing and prints the pic out and has lunch with them. Then when said pic does not pay the bill, he gets pissed off and blames Mike Petrelli for scaring away his lunch dates.

Anyway, back to Barry, early 2000's I went out to Santa Anita and he told me to bet his horse, Lethal Heat when she won and paid $16 to win

Sadly he had throat cancer for years and finally passed away like 6 years ago.  Last time I saw him and had lost a bunch of weight.

I had to laugh, he said to me regarding one of the trainer's there in 1990, he said "Stay away from that no good Jew, he's a piece of work", which was funny since Barry was Jewish
