Rest In Peace John Manzi
« on: Today at 12:18:42 AM »
My old friend John Manzi, the former PR guy at Monticello Raceway has died. He was one of the best at his trade bringing some amazing promotions to the "Mighty M". John followed legends Allan Finkelstein and will Andy Furman and made the job his own. He was close to my Dad. Just an all around great guy. The world is a poorer place without him. Rest In Peace John. You will be missed.

its sad that people on this site are too busy with their daily insults to acknowledge the passing of one of the giants of our sport .
John was the "Godfather" of the Monticello Raceway family.
His creative approach to publicity and public relations kept the Mighty M on the map during the golden years and was inducted into the Harnrss Racing Hall of Fame.
He noodgered me into driving in a couple of bartenders derbies which provided me with unforgettable memories.
And his Sunday night radio program, the "Bop Shop" ran for 36 years.
   Thanks for the memories, John.
May your memory be a blessing.

He was a great guy! I kept in touch with him until he moved to Florida to live with his daughter a few years ago. A great sense of humor and a larger than life personality. There will never be another like him. May his memory be for a blessing.
