Beau Jangles to be sold at Harrisburg
« on: October 24, 2026, 06:53:33 AM »
Caveat Emptor

Ian Moore may know more than he is saying with regard to fertility issues..

Most of Moores horses they say are on some sort

of steroid to muscle them up down south and these
steroids may cause fertility issues.

Maybe..maybe not..

I would think the buyers request a clean bill of health
and fertility tests prior to laying out 7 figures.

Any thoughts on what he will bring? European market has no interest in where he is a pacer, so his price will probably be lower than the 1.8 million that Luther spent for Amazing Catch.

The best shot is the new owner to stand him in Kentucky.

Curious at what price they buy him back?

Shadow Play, the best of the sires who Moore handled while racing, has been very successful and fertile (and sired Bulldog Hanover)

Century Farroh and State Treasurer, again Moore trainees, may nor be great sires, but have not heard of feritility issues with either of them either.

They will bid him up to a million and let the buyers take it from there.

worth 1 Million if he is fertile...if not $200K as

a racehorse MAX

If he made 300K next year after fees, training, vet,

you net $200K +

by that time with the overraced 2 year old season

not sure how long he can last without a 6 month layoff.

Rather go with Nijinsky or Captains Quarters.....

or Legendary Hanover

They werent "vet trained"

Bob Boni is a cheap salesman, so his over the top rhetoric was to be expected. As for the horse, someone is going to get hurt, probably the Luther guy as he doesn't strike me as a guy that learns from his mistakes. The horse has some value as a racehorse but I'd caution the buyer on two fronts: one, I don't know of a single horse that even functions let alone goes on after leave Doc Moore and he's sold a few. Second, if there really a market for him in the breeding shed?? He proved this year that he isn't a tough or durable horse, reminds me of Perfect Sting, bit of a speed rat. And if there were a market don't you think just one major breeding farm would have syndicated him by now? You have Bulldog and Cattlewash just killing it up there in Ontario so that's a no go zone. He's not moving Lou of his perch anytime soon and Huntsville rules NY. So what's he worth, maybe Ronnie Burke thinks he can win another 750K in the age ranks but that's a very big if and that will cost you 150-200K for two years of staking and training bills so how's that attractive. But there is a sucker born every day so I suspect a couple might show up at Harrisburg and lose their collective minds. I just don't see an angle in giving much for this horse who isn't even the best in Ontario.

Should've taken the offer they received before the NA Cup elimination

What I find interesting is that.....in all the announcements, press releases, interviews, and so on.....he is being talked about as a "stallion prospect." ZERO mention of racing.

So, he comes off the track and will immediately have fertility tests done. Hmmmmmm. Sell him as a stallion prospect, sure, you have to produce fertility tests. Sell him as a racing prospect, what do you have to give, make accessible, and sign off to in the sales contract.

There are quite a few options for Beau Jangles as a stallion if he is fertile!

Massachusetts is an up and coming program.
Kentucky is relatively new in the market.
I believe these states have programs that are later in the season when NY and PA are done!

Always room in Ohio and Indiana too!

Pricing would determine whether this is viable for both the new owners of BJ as well as potential breeders looking for new blood.

I don't think someone is buying him for Massachusetts.

The program is growing year after year with more eligible to race there.

You have to start somewhere and perhaps to start off and prove yourself as a stallion before moving on to other states with bigger potential.

AI assessment of his sale price:

“Beau Jangles is projected to sell for anywhere between $600,000 and upwards of $2 million to $5 million, with experts noting he has the potential to break the all-time Standardbred auction record. Because he is the first reigning Horse of the Year to ever be offered at a public auction, his exact final hammer price is highly anticipated and unpredictable.”
