Gambling Ideas for Tracks
« on: Today at 12:45:31 PM »
What is everyone’s thoughts for changes they’d like to see to wagers offered? Obviously everyone likes the lower take outs.

I like Western Fair doing the late Pick 3 as a $2 minimum. I’d like to see the Pick 5 and Pick 6 be offered up .50 cent minimum bets, it would cause way more carry overs increasing the pools.

Obviously at WEG get rid of the Swinger garbage, terrible wager. I think all pick 3’s should be $1 minimum as well, $2 doubles etc.

I will never understand the Swinger bet. I think it is more popular in Europe, but if tracks which offer it don’t see any response, why bother? For me, I would eliminate show wagering, too.

Guaranteed pools and no take out as a settlement for the years of cheating...not forever, just for my entire lifetime.

What's the point of wagering if the drugs and cheating don't stop so kill those mother fuckers.  8)

You and SCM are very similar.
SCM loved harness racing until he was thrown off of farm properties.   Now he wants to bring it down.
You loved harness racing until it became clear you were losing your shirt betting.  Now you hate the industry and everyone's a cheat, although you've never met any of them.

By eliminating the SHOW bet we loose the chance to capture a new regular to the Tracks Imo. Newbies are not as concerned about a low ROI as they are about losing money.  From my observations of 44 years in the game, a newbie will become a regular once they get come confidence that it is possible to make more money by expanding their knowledge of how things work!

I met plenty of them.

I don't need to meet your grandson to know you're a child molester.

I agree and would like to see .50 P4 & P5. Early P5 handle is large...so not likely.
Greg Luther wants to speed up racing. I agree and disagree on how. The Bal/Cal P4 was 1 way. It would be nice to see the Meadowlands and Mohawk team up. 2 races from each track...on a Saturday...run in 30 minutes...with a .50 base wager. It would be in the middle of the card. That allows bettors time to handicap.

Mlands/ Mohawk bet is an excellent idea. Which means, sigh, we have little chance of seeing it.

Good topic rabbit  tmbz1
As everyone knows, I like to gamble  ;D
Lower takeouts, less post drag and get rid of CAW's
Furthermore some of these min bets are ridiculous and effect the payouts.
20 cent supers and Pick 3's and 50 cent tris..Buh-bye..

Win,Place,Show..$2 minimum
Exactas.. $2 minimum
Tris and Supers..$1 minimum
Pick 3's and 4's.. $1 minimum
Pick 5's... 50 cent minimum
Pick 6's I am ok with a 20 cent minimum

You have those minimums, you can say "buh-bye" to more from an ever dwindling group of people playing harness races.

This is something you and I disagree on BT..and that's ok
The pools would increase in my scenario
A few less betters will be made up for by higher minimums
Does the younger generation actually bet 20 or 50 cents to make a 2 or 4 dollar ticket on sports betting? Absolutely not.
In the age group 18 to 30, sports betting is the primary gambling go to
Those guys aren't betting 2,4, or 6 bucks on a prop bet or game.

BUT the actual number of people betting will be less. Can they really afford to run off 'ANYBODY'
willing to wager on harness races? If you want to bet a $5 DD or $2 p3, for example, have at it
but it shouldn't be the minimums.
