Breeders Crown Night 2 Summary
« on: October 18, 2026, 11:35:15 AM »
Just a few observations from sitting trackside

Last night had better weather and a better crowd.
It wasn't jammed by any means and it was still really cold, but the crowd size was disappointing and should have been better even though 100,000 people were at other events.
Next weekend will be better for weather and crowd size

The handle was about $900,000..averaging $64,000 per race up from the $700,000 on Friday that averaged about $54,000 per race. Better, but still pathetic

The races were average again, but these are elims, to be expected
I think you have to have elims, it rewards the sharpest horses right now

Top performances have to go..
Big Ranger..he will win the final, take it to the bank
Emoticon Legacy..Great open trotter, hopefully continues to race
Little Road..happy for Roger Hammer and Brady Brown
Gentleman's Club..who saw that coming, hell of a mile
Twin B Joe Fresh..won easily, maybe the goat of pacing mares

I still think Brandon Blvd will win the finals
No BJ, RRM, OOMM showed little
No walking to the half like last night

Finally..my brother and I are in the red $143 after 2 nights
Bet $363
Won $220

Handle was $64 k a race.  That is beyond pitiful.

1 or 2 things I forgot to mention in my well written summary  ngc3

#1 The post drag was again ridiculous
6 hours for 14 races..GTFO!!
This weekend will also be bad

#2 Back to the handle...this is for elimination weekend only
2026 Scioto $1.6 million
2025 Mohawk $3.6 million
2024 Meadowlands $4.4 million
2023 Hoosier  $2.4 million
Now I am guessing Meadowlands and Mohawk had substantial CAW.. at least 30% whereas Hoosier and Scioto had none. I didn't see wild odds changes after the bell like I do at Mohawk and Meadowlands. Even removing 30 or even 40 percent from CAW there is no denying that those 2 tracks do the best with handle. Only problem is that CAW is absolutely awful for the average better.
Next weekends numbers will be interesting to see.

Too bad they have to copy the Breeders Cup and spread it out over 2 nights. The year Pocono had it all the finals were on the same night which I prefer and probably most other people.
