The Amish

You can crucify me. I don't give a fuck. The Amish can rot in HELL. They hide behind religion when it comes to treatment of animals.

I understand what you are saying but the Amish made it too easy if you needed to rid yourself of racehorses. They bought retired horses as a money grab. For example, years ago when I was stabled at Liberty Bell, they would come in and buy truck loads of horses that weren't paying their way. They would feed the bullshit that they would be road horses but 20 miles later they would be unloaded at the Alpo plant off the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike. Yes, laws have changed and that isn't happening now (hopefully) but that was reality back then.

That was 40 years ago Mike. They're still going to the Amish, now they send them to Mexico and Canada for slaughter.

Do you remember Preston Burris Jr's good trotter, Bayview's Billy Bob, he came from the Amish.

You can count those stories on one hand. Read about the Amish beliefs regarding animals. They consider that animals are put on this planet for nothing other than to serve man. When a horse is no longer useful to them, they either put a bullet in it's head or they drop it off at a kill pen.

The old amish truck. It pulled up to Monti a couple of time a month. Some went to Amish but most went to horse slaughter.

None are allowed on the grounds at Monticello anymore. A couple of the Amish sit in the parking lot of Tilly's Diner with their trailers and wait for pieces of shit trainers to bring their horses to them.

So what's your solution?

Have YOU set up and fully funded AFTERCARE for every horse you have ever bred or owned or trained?

Not one of the crying contributors on this thread or any other has offered anything of substance or value as to aftercare once they are done racing.

The Amish fill a void.

A void left by you and every person similarly situated.

What is YOUR AFTERCARE PLAN?

  • dougie: No tournament play there. Two many young cowboys bullying us old guys. Just straight poker. A lot of fun, but you could get hurt if you don't know the players.

  • Trigger: When I refer to cash game I'm thinking non tourn or sit n go, casinos I've played in never let you play for cash only chips but technically a ring game is a cash game too.

  • dougie: Private games are cash only. But the table uses chips to cause no confusion. Buy-in it $1G with 2 other buy in allowed. It is strictly Texas Holdem. Is is no limit but most of the players know each other. No kids playing. I'd say the average age was about 40. Food is included. Usually subs and pizza. Occasionally Chinese food.

  • JT: Is it no limit hold em I am assuming Dougie? tournament style, or cash game?
    October 13, 2026, 08:06:10 PM
  • dougie: We had 8 tables going and the 1G prize is every hour. Todays game is the third private game I ever played. I starting to enjoy private games.
