After great effort, Bongiorno #9 Best Chip REFUNDED. hmmm
Page/Burke upset at 29-1 with Harrisburg Heist in the $250,000 Dayton Pacing Derby..with remarkably, the Bongiorno #9 being REFUNDED for broken equipment after his stellar effort from outside, to the front and just missing in place spot.
The tote board had his 6-1 up the entire race and was still up on tote board during the inquiry, despite talk that he had become a LATE SCR just before race began. That cant be right.
What was the broken equipment that didnt allow Best Chip to have monster effort that he did? Did he have unfair advantage because of it? Or was there something that rubbed the judges the wrong way.
Anyway, not sure its a black eye but just a badly bruised orbital for the #9s connections and for any bettor who tried to follow along at a teletheater or on computer last night but had no clue.
Will add this one to the long harness racing list of things that make you go 'really?'
