you better check for a Columbus blue jackets hockey game that night also.  you could lose that attendance boost.

OSU 4th in country with just shy of 7million viewers per game. Even NHL playoff games which needless to say
DOESN'T include the Blue Jackets  ngc3 ngc3 [they are, however, leaders in coaching changes and good players exiting]
has less than one million viewers.

Older Mares Pace and Trot only go for $400k?  That's why harness racing is a joke and the T-breds will always be king...by a ton!

If it’s less than 50K, it’s a failure

Get real Yonkers. That track won't hold it. Hell even Keeneland cuts off entry at like 20,000.
NO harness tracks EVER comes close to that. A lot comes down to the weather. I'll make no
number prediction BUT IF the weather is decent, it will be asses to elbows in the HEART of harness racing.

With one exception, the LBJ.

Mohawk and Woodbine were never super crowded and they have a very large population to draw on.

Kenny yes by harness standards the Jug draws a nice crowd. NOTHING like in the past BUT
they don't come close to 50k. MAYBE 30k now. Columbus is getting to be a pretty big city but
a lot of those attending will be coming in from rural areas.

Everything my fellow Ohioan BT said is correct tmbz1
I love the Columbus Blue Jackets..watch every game and usually go to a few
Nationwide Arena is really nice and in a great area
On both Saturdays of the BC they are at home against the Rangers and Vegas
Those will be sellouts and that would take away some potential attendees

Having said that OSU football RULES Columbus year round
The BC finals on Saturday they do have a bye
The eliminations on Saturday the 17th they play at Indiana
A potential top 5 matchup.. Depending on the time of that game, that can dramatically effect the attendance on October 17th

As BT said, weather will play a big roll
In the middle of October we could have sunny and mid 70's or snow ngc3
I will be there all 4 nights regardless
Bucket List Item..check ;D

Attendance and handle don't matter. Why else have it at Scioto Downs?

Obviously you can't look at the LBJ or the BC and compare it to regular, everyday attendance. The sport and the industry is nothing like it used to be. Attendance pales in comparison. It sucks. The old Meadowlands building could accommodate, I would say, 20,000 to 25,000 people and whole place could hold a crowd of maybe 40,000 or more. The new one has seating for maybe 3000 and the entire place can maybe hold 15,000 people or so. Similar comparison to the new Belmont building. Real fans/bettors who want to bet don't have to go to the track to do so. Some fans/bettors don't want to go to the track at all. Hence, part of the problem. Even for a BC, it ain't what it used to be. Sad, but true.

Attendance and handle down big time, but I think you still have a better shot at bigger numbers having it in or near a major/metropolitan city. I guess some people consider Hoosier one of the premier tracks in NA now. Let's see what happens in 2027 at the Red Mile!

2025 was 42,000. I have been there when it was over 50,000.
