He presented videos of horses he believed needed veterinary attention and characterized their condition as an animal-welfare emergency. More recently, Petrelli has represented Equine Advocacy Alliance in the campaign for Romanch’s Law, formerly Ryder’s Law, which would end NYC’s commercial horse-carriage industry. Following the fatal 2026 Central Park carriage incident, CBS identified him as an Equine Advocacy Alliance representative commenting on the industry’s safety record. He also testified before the New York City Council as a panelist invited by Speaker Julie Menin, describing himself as an experienced horseman and arguing that neither training nor additional regulation can eliminate a horse’s instinctive flight response in Manhattan.
