A great book to read!
« on: Today at 10:42:02 AM »
For all my fellow gamblers, if you get some time, Read " HORSEPLAYERS..... LIFE AT THE TRACK" by author Ted McClelland. This guy, a writer/journalist in Chicago paints a vivid picture and "gambler's eye view" of all the action at the Chicago area tracks. He took a year doing research for a story for his editors at the Chicago Reader. The stories he tells and people he meets in this year are just amazing. Pick it up or read it online. You'll love it!

Had a miserable day yesterday at 3 different tracks. LOL! Dropped almost $400. Heading to the SPA on Tuesday for a few days. I love the track and the summer vibe. But food and drinks are out of sight. But it's only twice a year. And we stay at a friend who live about 10 miles away. So we save a lot of money on hotels.

-400 that's a winning day for me  as of  late  only thing I caught was the stomach bug    finally over it  ready to make  comeback  The Spa is way overpriced or I have gotten frugal tough to justify the expense rather give the$$ to the grand kids let them waste at the county fairs.

I've been to a few Breeders Cups over the years, but the SPA rips you off almost as much as they too! LOL! I too have become frugal about food, but sitting in one of the restaurants at the SPA will set you back a nice piece of coin. You'd love the fairs here in Maine. The Fryeburg Fair is one of the best in the country.
