as i'm not a big t-bred follower--
« on: Today at 05:10:31 PM »
I know that t-breds haven't changed as much as harness times over the years, but what is the range of times for a 6f race based on the class of the horse involved?

I just watched a race that went 1.12.07 for a 4k claimer at fort Erie on a 'sealed' track.

Thanks for the help on this!

Obviously some tracks are faster than others. I've seen top horses in California go in 1:07 and change, 1:09 is a fast time for good horses, cheaper ones can go a 22 and change first quarter, and 23 and change second quarter, but crawl home in 26 to 27 seconds or even slower for 1:14. Unlike harness, T-bred times have gotten faster at all over the years plus several tracks have gone to synthetic which is usually slower. Turf sprints of 5 furlongs regularly go in 55 and change at Gulfstream.
