In half the races the handle was less than 5k.How do they stay open?
The track supports the casino and vice versa . And Jeff Gural may help out if its needed.
I don't believe there's any tracks that actually cover the cost of racing ? Look at Shenandoah which only handle $50,000 - $60,000 a day. The cost to race is probably $15,000 for International Sound, United Tote, Roberts, Judges, Starter and Driver, Track Crew and Paddock Crew. % for online wagering is very low compared to 10 or more % for ontrack. Harness Racing needs to be very thankful for the welfare money from the Casinos.
Do you think that there would be casinos at the tracks if it wasn't for the tracks lobbying for it?
++++ The reason the tracks lobby for it is because there would not be any harness pari mutuel tracks left, unless the states gave them welfare money. The only reason harness racing still exists, is because of casinos. Hopefully soon, decoupling will take place, and the blight named harness racing will be gone for good. Sincerely, Silent One
How long do you give money to a business that continues to lose money ?
I play every Tioga card if I am home. Formful race with no fixing or drugs. Get free4 programs on their website. I wish the handles were higher so I can increase the size of my bets. And today... Bulldog races.
Forever if its a big industry employing lots of people! DUUUUHH
