I put JC up on a trotter at The Meadowland's in a series, he won with him. Told me nicely, not to put him up again "he's not my kind of horse" He was a horse you had to keep in the chute, pulled a ton. He won the next week with a different driver, JC, still not my kind of horse.. I had a nice trotting filly at Vernon, she's on top on the backside and she disappears. down she went. I asked the driver what happened,he saws "Fucked if I know"

About 30 years ago.  Trainer sent our mare out East when she ran out of competition in Chicago.  Assigned outside post in Fhld mares open.  Campbell instructed to leave.  Horse shows no early foot in program.  Campbell ducks.  Mare is trying to run over horse in front of her.  J C pulls first over.  Races great but can't reach.

J C says "If I knew she was that good I would have left with her."

I had a horse horse that was no good for quite awhile.  Pulled blood gave time off etc no better.  Finally one day cuts the mile backs through the field. I ask the driver after the race if I should just Amish him his reply "you said it not me"

Re Robust Hanover, I think the interviewer was Alan Kirchenbaum. Plaudits for not missing a beat after O’ Donnell threw a curveball in the interview.
