Meadows is first to offer live video of draw

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will become the first harness track in North America to offer live video of the post position draw for each race card with a dedicated YouTube channel.

“We are pleased to offer this service to our owners, trainers and the general public,” said Michael Carter, Meadows director of racing. “Years ago, everyone could come to the race office and watch the ‘shaking of the pills’ for the draw, but as with most things these days, everything is now done on the computer. This improves transparency and allows so many more people to see the process take place as it happens. Plus, now you won’t have to wait for the full draw results to be posted and you can find out a lot more quickly where your horse has drawn.

“We’ve been testing it, but it will be official on Friday (April 10) when we draw for Wednesday (April 15),” added Carter.

Viewers on the Meadows YouTube channel will be able to see in real time the actual post positions assigned randomly by the United States Trotting Association’s eTrack Racetrack Office System.

While the exact time of the draw can vary by day based on the review and verification of entries for each race card, viewers can subscribe to the channel to receive an alert on draw days when the live video begins.

Long overdue. While it's different because of the process, and jockey agents, LOL, the t-breds have been doing this since the pandemic. But even before that, the t-bred draw was always front and center. Clockers would show up, professional handicappers, sometimes some owners, and others.

I agree that the explanations should be voiced.  I think that when they have more entries than needed, they will eliminate a horse by date if the trainer has 2 entered.
