not good for the bottom line if you are one of the barns that ships horses to multiple tracks
makes  those tracks that still have barns on them advantageous

Does your little dog need a big bed??   ;D

However, I could use the bicycle for my daily exercise. Need to stay in shape!

I own a part of 3 horses currently residing in South Florida right now.

Not looking forward to the shipping bills going back up as well as shipping from  track to race during the summer. Unfortunately, it is what it is. If you can’t afford the bills, don’t be in the business.

Living in Maine like I do, you know that our state legislature never met a "tax" it didn't like. LOL!

What do you feel will be the better fairs this coming year in Maine?
Does Fryeburg still go? Windsor fair going this year?

We use to go every year when we had some cheaper horses for the fairs, always loved talking to Soupy & the boys.

That was always a fun trip, tried to win the Bunyan twice but only hit the board one of the times.

Use to go to Bangor, Scarborough, even up to Foxboro & Rockingham Park
Seems like most of it is dead, hard to believe they couldn't run more fairs, they were always packed with people & a great time.

Old home week is my favorite, try to make it every year. Dual citizenship now & spending more time in the US but the border from Maine/NB on the NB side has Woodstock racetrack that's been revived.
They had a tough year last year(rip little angel). So much grieving in such a small, tight nit community as such a tragedy should never occur.

You should have stayed in school & got a job.

Living in Southern Maine, I love going to the Fryeburg, Cumberland & Topsham Fairs. I've been to them all, but those are my favorites. With Scarborough Downs history, and Bangor and Cumby running very little days, the fairs have been packed to the rafters the past few years. Foods expensive, but the racing is fun to watch. Simulcasting has put a few more bucks into the pools, but there are still a lot of short priced winners. I remember one of my favorite drivers, John Hogan winning tons of races at Foxboro. Great times there.

Thanks for reply, I forgot about Topsham & Cumby
The fairs in Maine are really awesome, I don't mind spending extra on food for the kids as they love going around getting diff stuff. They deserve it after going to school all year. When they come to the races with me, they always have a good time. I hope they enjoy it like I did when my parents took us as kids.
So thankful they introduced us to Maine that way, was tough to make it there when we were based out of Seattle, always went to the PNE at Hastings racetrack in Van, Calgary stampede(no standardbred racing, they race standardbreds in diff riding shit but the whole event is so crazy. 2 casinos right there, 1 on the grounds and other just outside the gate.
Elbow river casino just put of the gate, great buffet when playing poker there all night. I think it's Midnight they bring out the spread for everyone free of charge.
Don't have to leave when hungry and in a good cash game or tourney.

Definitely getting to Maine this summer, making it a priority

Let me know when and what fair you will be attending this summer. Maybe we can all meet and watch the races. The Fryeburg Fair is the last one of the season and the most popular.

The rising cost of fuel and other petroleum products isn't even close to peaking out yet IMO! I wouldn't be surprised to see an additional 40%.
