Meadowlands Saves thier Future .
« on: Today at 06:21:54 AM »
Friday night had one of the worst cards ever. Low-class horses, I mean non-competitive horses at cheap fairs, ship in and win.   They handle $2.8 and give out less than $150,000 in a 14-card program. The NEW Meadowlands has arrived

At least 90 percent of their handle comes from ADW's and other off track betting sites. Meadowlands charges between 4 and 5 percent for their signal, so on a 2.2 million dollar handle at 5 percent it comes to $110,000 which doesn't even cover purses. Some of that money also goes towards other expenses.

90 percent of the money comes from ADW wagering and that only 3-4 percent for the track

Generally speaking, I think simulcast out is 50:50 purses:track owner after certain expenses.
The Meadowlands may be different, I don't know.
Track handle sends a much higher percentage to the purse account generally speaking as well.
I wish the Meadowlands well.  They are trying really hard to get rid of cheaters.

If racetracks got rid of ADW betting and charged 13 percent rake with a 5 percent rebate the game would have a chance,   In ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA they use bookmakers and if a fixed race lets say happens in NORTH AMERICA THE PUBLIC GETS killed and even people that hit the numbers will only get a fraction of the real payoffs,    Now in England and AUSTRALIA if a race is corrupt the bookies get killed and they are the ones who pay the purses and when this happens they have a task force to check who is cashing and taking the money on payoffs that are not legit and people are caught left and right,   3 years ago New ZEALAND  great James macdonald who may be one of the greatist ever to ride a horse bet big on a horse he was riding and riders can not place a wager in Australia and he was given a  full one year holliday and had to serve the full time,   its a perfect system that makes horse racing huge in Australia the big day at FLEMINGTON race track is a non working holliday that the whole country watches and in my opinion is the biggest race in the world and thats the MELBOURNE cup,          Changes can only be made if you block the horsemen from meetings to improve racing and have people that understand gambling making the rules and that is why in ONTARIO the AGCO who runs the  show with people that have never made a bet and for sure no city in north america is hurting worse than ontario when it comes to gambling and every gambler i know feels like its AL CAPONE thats running the show

AND WHERE DOES THIS MONEY GO?

New Jersey provides significant state funding for The Meadowlands Racetrack through subsidies, including a recent $1.6 million transfer from Freehold Raceway to boost race days, and substantial allocations for the New Jersey Sire Stakes (NJSS) and development funds, with major stakes purses growing to $18.6 million in 2026

My future wife and I were at the Meadowlands opening night in 1976. It was a eye opening moment for fans like us. After spending most of our time chasing winners at Roosevelt and Monmticello, I thought this new track was amazing. Great for harness racing. Must have had 40,000 people there. Had to stand 30 deep in line to make a bet. It was a great looking facility. Now, with all the opinions I read about Gural and the state of racing nationally, i hope the Meadsowlnds does not go the way Freehold did.
