fwiw, here is what AI says:"The horse involved in an incident with driver Ian Kaufman wasLucky Bet. The horse, a trotter, was scratched from a race at Yonkers Raceway around April 17, 2009, following an ambulance trip for an injury. The incident was recorded as a "driver-DNF-must requalify" event, and the horse was diagnosed with a pulled muscle, after which it was to be rested. "If that much is correct, then, perhaps you can tease out the rest of the info you are looking for?? Good Luck!
Might it be?Ian B KaufmanYR 08/16/1995C C Lang DNFThere is no Ian Kauffmann listed on The USTA Pathway as an owner trainer, or driver.
I don't even remember the answers and I was there...In the early 90's (90-94?) it was a baby stakes night at Yonkers. Many $200k races. Now this part is where my memory might be faulty...Ian Kauffmann is on the lead going around the final turn and his horse goes down. There is a pile up. 2 horses from the back win and place. There is no 3rd place finisher. The horse that wins breaks across the wire and the 2nd place horse lapped on and gets put up at @90-1. Interestingly the 2nd place horse declared the winner went first over and actually died bad, was way way back. I believe Prince Ebony won the Open Handicap that night too.I hit the p4 that night, and that race was the second leg of the p4. Paid $9k. I had to come back Monday to cash (no ss dl on me). That's all I remember.Does anyone remember that race and can fill it in accurately, get a video?
I believe this was NYSS finals and maybe D.R. Ackerman was one of the 2 horses that finished
Maybe the spelling is wrong. I think it was Ian Kaufman on the lead. Was a Jewish / German last name, could of been a son to a more famous father? But there was an Ian K racing in that era, not sure if this video poster spelled the name correctly:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bM-aZJ8Pnc
