Oh that's nasty!
Does anyone think that racetracks are going to spend huge money on protecting the gambler and if they told horsemen that this would come out of the purses it would be a 95 percent no as how can that help the game would be their way of thinking, A few years ago every big ticket was coming in from Oregon and this was for a long time and now they come in from places with populations of 14 people, Most of the people i know play the game and over 90 percent have not made a bet in a while and speaking to someone who works at the red mile i was told that people who made bets everyday for a long time have had enough and no loner call, What a system with speed winning every race and computer bettors betting into a product that is made for them,
Here's the last 3 betting cycles.Time / Pool Total / 7-5 Probable / 7-5 $Bet/ Increment1:33.37 / $126,987 / $1,021 / $100 / 1:34.07 / $165,883 / $1,334 / $103 / $31:34.27 / $195,604 / $286 / $549 / $446$446 was bet on the winning combo during the last 20 seconds of wagering.
Compare that to ALL races. I put on the APP. I often bet when the gate is in motion. There are many computers and cables involved to update the pools and odds.
Lat year a horse dropped from 17- to 5-1 when leaving and i call and found out that the bet of 1000 came in from sudbury and it was legit as it came in with 2 seconds before the gate left
I would have quite quite distraught had I bet a $2 7-5 and saw that it was paying $1300 as they're getting to the gate, only to collect $280.
