SPA Wednesday 7/16
« on: July 16, 2025, 10:26:41 AM »
I'm trying a couple.

Race 3 ... #5 Just Clarity...  m/l:   8/1

What a garbage 6 horse race. Franco hops off my hero to ride for Cox. But my trainer David Donk (whose hand I once shook ;D) gets PRAT to ride.

HONK FOR DONK!!

Race 5 ... #7 Wamo .. m/l ... 6/1

2 yo turf sprint maidens. Wamo is by Yaupon, who won the Forego, Amsterdam and an Allowance  (yes, dirt) at Saratoga where he was 3 for 3.  6 for 8 lifetime... he could run.

Mike Maker has kept him hidden from good clockers, working him all spring and early summer  at Turfway over Synthetic instead of shipping up a month or two ago.

Anyhow, good luck. tmbz1

I'm all over Calhoun's picks like a thief in the night, even did the 5A7 p3.  Either I'll need bail money or I'll be a happy escaped fugitive, anyway I'm with ya there - nice value plays!

Onto the 4th.  The gelding, #7 Solo Dancing, beat up bad coming out of the gate in his debut and showed heart and looked good recovering in that stretch drive.  Katie Davis back on, 10-1 ml, Mark Hennig in my playbook is always the go to guy if there is going to be a do over, he seems to step it up for that type situation.  Family bred and owned, and his dam has a stakes winner under her skirt.

In the 7th, Duration the #1.

Horse gets better and better.

4yo but in a sprint the extra weight shouldn't matter, coming off a couple of months fresh.

I feel like the 2 & 4 shot their loads recently.

I like these two behind him in this 5 horse field.

In the 9th, it's an up in the air deal.

So I'm picking one horse, #10, Carmen's Candy Jar.

10 races $215k, Repole - Pletcher - J Ortiz.

Won last by 7 lengths, nice wo on the grass for this first time turf horse.

Dam has no other foals other than her, dam didn't race, however her dam this fillies grand dam was turf sprint stakes winner.

Can race decent without lasix.  Green lighting the #10!   ;D

Thus far if we only stayed in the Journalism thread and debated today instead of betting and forgetting racing at Saratoga was even running today, it might of been more fun, and less expensive than today's disaster.

Not much to sing and dance about during the last couple of weeks of racing.  ngc3
