SPA Opening Day 7/10/25
« on: July 09, 2025, 08:39:26 PM »
So at it turns out last week at the Spa was Belmont at the Saratoga, the official Spa meet starts now!

I'm reigning myself in so I'm only looking at the 5th and 8th, 2 ungraded turf stakes races.

If the weather forecast is accurate it should be a fast dirt and firm turf.  Good luck!

Race 5 - 1, 2, 3, 6 (I hope Katie Davis can get this 6 horse to rate  tmbz1)

9 & 10 mto likely will be scratched.

The 8 is 1/2 here but win came on gd turf sprint, off a long layoff and suggests speed dwindles upon first race back, may not like inside turf.

7 big turf $ winner, was lousy on Preakness day as favorite and off lasix, took a month off went back to training, possibly better with lesser horses on Louisiana stakes circuit where lasix is ok to use.

6 is very interesting.  Katie Davis is 3/6 on this filly, looks like they're besties - and nice June 25 workout at the spa.  Won a turf sprint stakes with her.  2 more furlongs here, if she can rate on 2 turns, wow, could be a longshot who shows up!

5 Graded stakes place in the US was not anything to write home about, Donk 8%, JV 4th time on this horse and horse is 0/1 at the spa now.

4 One race in 1 year 9 months.  Is the horse infertile and healthy enough to run, I dunno, just looks like will be in the top 3 in betting and not loving.

3 Last race 11 hole, race before yielding turf, 2 previous to that were nice wins, one on the Saratoga outside turf.  Thinking J Ortiz is going to be pleased with his chances.

2 Won first time in the states in ungraded stakes with Rosario, last race suggests possible injury?  maybe winter break?, long layoff and back.  Great connections.  Based on record I think 50 / 50 off layoff.

1 Mott Alvarado (50% itmo 25% win on 44 races together) team up on this one which feels really good, workouts look sharp, and horse has been ready off previous layoffs with other trainers and capable connections here.  1/1 Saratoga breaking maiden on an the outside turf sprint, very nice race on the inside turf at big A.

A little behind times. Yes it officially,SARATOGA. It not matter previosly. Dame trainers have barned there. Don't think that it know officially SARATOGA meet, there any difference.

While I'M at it. Do,LINDA RICE train 6.000 horses.

Race 8 - 1, 4, 6, 8 (using 7 if 6 scratches) (I think the odds maker shit the bed with the ml odds on this race  tmbz1 - LOVING the 8!, 10-1 ml, is this a fucking joke?  ngc3 )

9, 10 & 11 mto likely will be scratched.

8 - Very, very excited about this one (at 10-1 ml?)!  3/4 at the spa.  Horse stole an ungraded stakes race w2w here last race and rated on the inside turf course, JV / Hennig must be pleased as punch because they can as Tony Soprano said on Pie O My, something about blowing them away which this mare can do and maybe they'll treat her to doing what she loves, sizzle the fractions!

7- 6-1 ml yeh right lol!  Not loving, in fact hating running without lasix but those were on the dirt.  On the other hand cost $1mil, capable connections, hard to toss, hard to bet but that might draw a price.  Last race was very nice, now 2 turns, if can rate will be exciting to see if it can happen.  If 6 scratches using.

6- One win and One 3rd out of 2 races at the spa.  Shows a race on the synthetic without lasix and can run with them, tries very hard to be itm in stakes races.  I'm taking a shot, likely will be scratched because the filly raced 5 days ago in Shelbyville, Indiana.

5- Send me back to France please, lol!  Brown Flavien can do wonders, but it's looking like do or die literally for this $678k purchase.  I'm probably stupid for saying no.  Convince me otherwise Mon :).

4- 6/5 ml was that really earned off of the last two 3rd places in graded stakes?, 1 race 1 3rd at the spa.  Hard to not be in the top 4, or 3 with these, but if she loses I'll be the last surprised person.  Using though.

3- Race comes off the turf, track is sloppy, with a 101 speed figure on that slippy slop would be the one to bet.  No lasix here.  Passing despite 1-1-1 out of 3 races at the spa with lesser and stakes company only on the slop in a four horse field.  Can't bet em all, probably will take money and not be 12-1 as ml suggests.  Passing.

2- Not liking spa with a 0/2, not running at all well without lasix, she switches back to allowance, optional claimers she's the belle of the ball and back on the (L) sauce.

1- Record of 11 races 5-2-2 and banked $359k, won from the rail, 1/1 at the spa, and won on a similar type inside turf course at Tampa.  Likely co-favorite to the 4 Filly

Cool, thanks.

Just a reminder...I hope you're backing your multi race wagers with individual race wager bets, those were excellent selections you had in the 3/4 grand slam you posted and played last weekend.

Race 1
#1 Royal Bobbie...Ridiculo us race last wide on the slop = no shot.

Second time linda and picks up Jose. Will be close to the pace at this distance and overhaul tired leaders in the lane

#7 Grace Required...will get a perfect stalking trip. May be one to hang but was never favorite so may just have been facing better. Dangerous

Yes Saratoga is Saratoga but would be kind of a cool thing for Owners or pic collectors
having it say " Belmont At Saratoga", Chances are won't ever happen again. For instance
I have David Miller's gloves from his win on Shadow Play in Adios, held just the one time
at Pocono for a similar situation. It being construction at the original track.

Fun With Flags (8th-5) the only being currently in New York that wants to be deported back to France and they won't.

Poor horsey, Monsieur Brown, vive la France!

As for the races bet 150, got back 300.  Lost on 5th.  Nailed 8th, and really my 2 favorite horse were 1 and 8 so that is pleasing.  Had more with the 8 on top and better odds, c'est la vie.

Giving harness a break, crushed me in the beginning of the week.  Only down three 3 1/2 bills now from 5.

Love the Spaaaa!   tmbz1

Thx Papillon, did not know that. So only half as cool. Two years in the History of those two tracks
is still pretty rare. That must be an amazing make-over that Belmont is getting.
