Dougie back to the tip  debate I agree that a high percentage of folks,at on time , worked in the industry.  But 10% of employed people  in the US are restaurant workers with 28% of those fast food  employees  . AS far as blue state or red sates go The blue states  contribute  more to the fed  This according  to a AP fact check

talkstohisself, I agree that the amount fluctuates from region to region. My niece who is a hair/nail worker makes 40% of her income due to tips. The new law is big for her. Here in Maine, folks are taxed pretty high. For me, a retiree, Maine According to SmartAsset is "not tax- friendly toward retirees". So the $4000 dollar tax break for all retirees will make many in my state very happy. Living in Florida for over 30 years, before we retired, spoiled us. For retirees, Florida is a great state.

I always preached too any one who would listen you need two jobs  one on the books and one off the books. It is tough on small employers who use parttime workers a couple days a week to keep people without paying cash.
