They need more racing, they should handicap and broadcast Tioga and the Meadowlands. like NYRA and Oaklawn
Can you imagine that freak Shades announcing races on a national broadcast, it would be torture.
Let’s talk about the elephant in the broadcast booth: Jessica Otten and Dave Little are driving people away from the Meadowlands product. These two spend every broadcast talking 100mph about absolutely nothing anyone actually cares about. It's a constant stream of personal opinions, inside jokes, and commentary so detached from the average bettor's experience that it’s borderline unwatchable. They sound more like they’re doing a live podcast for their friends than hosting a national racing broadcast. Here’s a suggestion: watch TVG. Those broadcasters know how to actually serve the audience — they educate, inform, and most importantly, focus on the horses, trainers, and wagering strategy, not their own gambling habits. No one watching cares how much you are betting, what you played in the pick 5, or how tilted you are tonight. This isn’t your diary. Your job is to help the betting public — not pretend you're giving some masterclass on how to be a degenerate gambler.Meadowlands, if you want to be taken seriously again as a top-tier betting product, clean up the booth. The constant babble, lack of clear wagering advice, and self-indulgent nonsense is turning your broadcasts into background noise — and not the kind anyone wants to hear. You have world-class racing. Now act like it.
Speaking of Shades. He told a concerned trainer this past week in a phone call that the reason he allowed the Bourgault girlfriend horse to race at Tioga is he was cleared by Meadowlands channels, Brice Cote AND that "hardly anyone knows Bourgault is connected to her". Nice.
They are fine. The Meadowlans broadcast is fine. This place is so petty.
You would need a crane to reel him in.

I don’t mind them. The TVG people are much more annoying. Sending crews of 6,7 people to tracks. I listen to their picks and throw them out. I’m know I’m stuck in the past but watched the RR/YR show on WOR-9 with Stan Bernstein was the best. Spencer Ross was the announcer and Stan was the commentator much like the way a sports telecast works. I always found Stan informative. I remember him explaining to newer viewers about handicapping and always saying the second quarter was the key quarter in a race when most thought 1st and last quarter, and how Watching replays and forming your own opinion was best. That’s why I to this day don’t look at ML and go by what I see.
