Just checked their condition sheet for Opening Night. The Open Handicap had been $22,500, it's down to $18,000 which is a 20% cut. Most likely it's a 20% purse cut across the board, still better than the purses at Harrah's Philly.

Don't forget the bonus for Delaware-owned which is the vast majority of the horses that race at both Harington and Dover. It starts at 20% and can go as high as 40% as the season progresses.  Delaware is a great place. Year-round racing, great horse population,  and very reasonable real estate pricing.

I agree with you 100%. Dover allows a few out of state trainers in, but none of them ever go to Harrington.

Beard owners and trainers dumping horses so real owners can get them back in real owners' name.

Chick selling one who has won 6 out of last 8 with a 2nd and 3rd because purse cut? WTF

It's all just a ruse!

That I don’t know.  There are some theories out there but nothing concrete.  Some say wags, some say Kevin Lare, no one knows for sure.  But his spending habits have drastically changed over the past several years.  Yet no one ever questions why.

I've known Frank for almost 30 years, and he was always a cheap skate. Got into trouble with his horse auctions that he held at the fairgrounds. Then all of a sudden, he's filthy rich and buying horses by the dozen. I know he sold one for big money years ago. And your right he always Flys below the radar. But this is Delaware and DHRC doesn't like to rattle the cage!
