As someone who lives in Maine, and chatted with "Casey", he knows he might be the best example of "wasted talent" in history. His life, certainly a sad story, brings strong opinions from all who knew him. But every person I've  met in this great sport has never questioned his ability. If "Casey" didn't screw up his life, I have little doubt he would be included in the top 10 of all time. Like I said, wasted talent.

Either you "forgive him his trespasses" so to speak, because he faced the consequences, paid the price, etc., that was handed to him, or you don't. Whether you do or you don't, you simply can't forget. Whether he's a different person now, reformed, or whatever, that may or may not make a $hit's worth of difference to you. To each their own.
