Young guns at the Meadowlands
« on: January 19, 2025, 03:28:55 PM »
Brett Beckwith we all know he's got alot of talent and his stats speak for themselves.   BUT!!!!  I'll be honest hes almost un usable at the Meadowlands.
Braxton Boyd ive always thought he was a decent driver and backed that up with a huge night Friday.
Jonathan Ahle and Mark Hershberger both peak my interest. I know the colony is easy right now but I like the way that these two drives. Both very quiet in the bike and get alot out of horses.

Agreed I don’t know anything about many of those drivers but nice to see someone different and sometimes fun to watch
As far as Beckwith goes if you want him to dominate your going to have to wait for New Jersey to some day give Mark a license

Braxton towers over all of them.  Hershberger Amish over rated but helluva nice guy.  When the crew comes back to meadowlands no idea where all the enter drivers go

Mark already raced at the swamp he’s licensed in New Jersey . Why race for peanuts when he dominated Plainridge and Saratoga which race for more money . Swamp purses not so great any longer .

Agreed does awesome at plainridge and Saratoga but if you want Brett to win more races at the meadowlands better find him much better horses to drive

AGREED!  Tough when you get the leftovers instead of the best to drive!

This is the LEAST talented group of drivers ever assembled at M.
It's not even close.

A few of them do have some talent but would never make it when the big boys are here. What makes it worse is very few of these drivers have much experiencing driving on a 1-mile track, since most are used to driving on 1/2- or 5/8-mile tracks where the strategy is totally different.

It's also the least talented group of trainers and horses, directly correlating with who drives.

we still seem fixated on times and speed
i find most of the races very competitive
from a gambling perspective i dont care if they go in 1:50 or 2:00 as long as they are competitive
these guy's are showcasing themselves to the big trainers in hopes of picking up some sire stakes drives
as much as they try to hoard all the drives the big 5-7 drivers cant drive in every stakes and grand circuit race , even though they try
also seems like david miller taking a step back and tetrick seems to be slowing down so there is a void to fill

This is by far the worst group of trainers and drivers ever there. Which means the caliber of horse went way, way down. It'll be like Freehold before long. Keep remembering when the swamp opened, and look what it turned into.

Please look up December 2023!  It could be closer than you think it is on this!
