Looks like he has the wants  to learn attitude Not just coming into it a know-it-all He has something to be proud of for sure
And I'm pretty sure he started driving junk just like all the rest

Yes, he did!  I saw a few of the drives he got in my trainer's barn. After he got through this, my trainer gave him opportunities to drive the barn's better stock and did quite well!

FYI, for the 'haters' here that he chooses the family stock first over other trainers, that is not 100% true.  He has chosen off the family stock on many occasions.

Here's some info for Mr. Turnpike. I see Bret is listed to drive in the $250,000 Gran Prix invitational Pace at Yonkers on Monday. I wonder why the trainer or owner chose only him. Be honest: You can't admit that he is very talented.

  • Sweet: Thankfully Mike is on the case, along with NYCLASS and other protestors.  When any side has no represenation, then they're screwed, because money and power rule of ethics i.e. the horse racing industry and how it cannot self sustain.  Pacer 2 and G are evil, nuts too!  tmbz1

  • dougie: IIB, I think the mayor will sign the bill if it reaches his desk. The optics on this issue is bad for the horse carriage industry. Animal activists are adept to using the media to enlist horror and anger by the public.

  • Ignorance Is Bliss: It's now a bill with city council. Public hearings will be scheduled then the council votes on it. If passed it's sent to the Mayor to sign into law. He has already said he's in. Marte just took over, Bob Holden is the actual author of the bill who retired last year.

  • dougie: IIB, I have been reading some of the work Councilman Marte has been doing on this issue. I think he might be successful with passing the 'Ryders Law" Bill this time around. The image of the horse dead on the street has even been seen here everywhere. If the animal activists can get this on the ballot, who knows how the vote will go.
