How many drivers are at Hawthorne? If a regular driver gets sick or hurt will there be an available driver there to fill in?

Are they really that short? Seriously? I wouldn't think this would ever be an issue at a place like Hawthorne. Not that it's a major harness hub today, but I wouldn't guess this would happen.

What would you expect from the shit show at Hawthorne. Total incompetence from top to bottom.
I'm tired of shipping into the rat infested back stretch and finding races for my horses on a condition
sheet that looks like it was put together by someone who has no idea of the current horse population.

That's nothing new. Sad, but not new. The entire debacle of greater Chicago (and IL) racing is sad.

I’ve covered Chicago harness racing for the past 20 years and I can tell you that Tim Carey is an asshole.  There are no drivers who care to be bothered so if a listed driver doesn’t show up, they are going to have to scratch the horse.  Casey can only drive one horse each race and Steve Searle said he’ll probably just drive his own along with Tom Simmons at 70 years old.  Even Nelson Willis is going to start driving again this meet at Hawthorne. Anyone remember the circumstances years ago(maybe twenty) at Haw, when a horse was scratched becuse no driver was available to drive it?

Ten races this Saturday and only nine on Sunday. Purses are pathetic. Still looks the same a last year.

I used to love Hawthorne.  It has been totally unwatchable for a long time now.  Tim Tetrick, Tony Morgan, Joe Anderson, Brent Holland, Andy Miller, Lavern Hostetler, Dale Hiteman, Jim Dolbee, Daryl Busse, Jerry Graham etc all long gone.  :'(

Jim Miller has told me to let anyone who has ever driven in a park mutuel race is encouraged to apply at Hawthorne because it is true. As of right now they only have 13 licensed drivers. Nelson Willis is going to drive and so is John groth and Doug Graham and Gene gulerman. Eric P
