Doc's Fella at Yonkers. Was a teenager but couldn't wait to watch him race on Saturday nights. Hooked me on wanting to own a horse. Named my first yearling after him.

While I owned and raced a decent group of higher-class trotters at the Big M during the late 70's through the late 90's I spent a lot of time there and loved to watch two really gritty pacers who had long tenures of success there..Rambling Storm and Instrument Landing (who, when he retired, I believe, had the record for most wins at the Big M and was trained by Marschia Gardner, who also trained a few for me.)

P.S. They also had a series named after Instrument Landing for a while at the Big M (may have been a claiming series.)

If I recall, Instrument Landing was driven by Mickey McNichol.

Mickey definitely drove him some of the time.  He had 47 wins at the Meadowlands in 217 starts there.  Both may still be records.

Remembering Bret Hanover, he was like Caitlin Clark coming to town and you would make your plans about not missing him race.

He was so great, at some tracks he was barred from the betting.

Ironstone Dynamo with Syl King Junior.
The horse's head was so low to the track while he was racing his chin was scraping the dirt.
I remember him well. I had a $150 plus exacta for $20 at Yonkers with him finishing second at a big price. I once asked Syl King what was wrong with him and he said that he broke something in his back as a young horse but he made it to the races anyhow.

Dunachton Nukes, old war horse would be last & spot them 15 lengths, he would start moving at the half & catch them up the backside & just keep on motoring.

No idea who owned them but I was right young & still remember them yelling "C'mon BigDog!!" at the tv screens non stop @ Woodbine.
Riyadh & The BigDog, back when a fast mile actually meant something. Wow, what a class of horses that was.
It's a great game, if you have the means to play

I remember an old favourite, a big stallion named Back Door Man.  Didn’t have great gate speed but loved to come from behind.
