Do judges actually watch races?
« on: September 29, 2024, 11:13:49 PM »
What percentage of judges do you think actually watch races?  I constantly see races where they don't even throw up a inquiry when bettors deserve to at least see that they are taking a second look.  Race 11 at Northfield should have had an inquiry at a minimum.

My biggest gripe is a inside horse pushing his way out! The judges never dq or fine, and it happens in most races.

Back in the 1970's at the old Georgetown Raceway in southern Delaware, which was a 1/2-mile track, there would be a horse first over and almost head and head with the inside horse, and all of a sudden, the horse who is locked in the pocket just cuts right out pushing the 1st over horse 3 wide. There were never any inquires for it and it happened all the time. Obviously, the video replay technology wasn't as good back then as it is now, and I'm not sure they showed replays in those days.

How often do you see drivers pull off the rail into cover and the driver behind on the rail doesn't fill that gap even though his horse can. Then when the outside horse's cover stalls at 3/4 the inside driver lets the outside driver back on the rail in front of him as the inside driver runs up his back down the stretch with so much horse left. I really believe these Northfield drivers take turns with each other. I think the Northfield judges spend most their time in the casino when the races are going on.

They are watching the races but don’t know what they are looking at.
Setting a horse back involves calls to drivers and paperwork, nothing the judges want to get involved with.
When was the last time you saw a driver put in an objection ???  They are all buddies. And if one does do the unimaginable , the judges disallow it as its a reflection on them for not calling it first.
This week at Lexington will be a joke.  Holes given, inside opening up like the spreading of the Red Sea,
Don’t know what is going to be worse. The shenanigans on the track or in the show, oops, sales ring.  Oh !!!  Forgot the midnight barn visits..

Another thing I don't like about judges is, there is no rhyme or reason or consistency as to their interpretation of the pylon rule.

We used to take the Starr bus there from Wilmington, DE. I remember them holding up post time for the 1st race one Saturday it was snowing because our bus was running late.

Long time back I asked the TV guy at Yonkers why they don't show the "Judges View".
He said "then we would be watching Seinfeld"

It's their job to watch the races, but too many times I watch races where horses should be placed lower, yet there's not even an Inquiry.
Batavia has been guilty of that recently, same horse broke 2 weeks in a row, did not lose ground and tucked right in on the rail. Won both weeks, no inquiry. Didn't have to Requalify either.

I can't speak for not losing ground or other infractions but generally if you break and win then it counts as a clean line.

Did kubi erzene ever get suspended for his stiff job at the wire at freehold or did he get away with such a blatant what had to be suspicious at a minimum.
