Drivers Age
« on: September 24, 2024, 09:22:51 PM »
New on the site ,but not new to harness racing. What's  important is the drivers age, and it should be posted in the program. Age matters, and we all know drivers matter, but for handicapping, let betters decide the pros and cons of the drivers age.

Welcome to horseplop!

They should put "real" weights in the program too!  Some of us actually want to know how much certain drivers 'really' weigh!

FYI, years ago, they actually did post the drivers ages in the program depending on what track it was.

In TB racing jockeys are weighed before and after each race.

My opinion, age might matter in some instances but not all the time. A horses talent level can shine above weight and age. how old was Malvern Burroughs and what was his weight when driving Malabar Man for example.

When I was 20, I was listed at 130 lbs was still listed 20 yrs later still listed 130 I was at least 150 by then. I don't think it ever changed. Can you imagine trying to weigh drivers like they do Jockies

JENNY FROM THE BLOCK

Plenty of driver who never get locked in still don't win because they have no talent. You didn't understand my point about Tony Morgan. He still has the hands and talent to win whether he gets locked in or not. The bad drivers with no talent or hands make mistakes all the time whether they're locked in or not. Most drivers Tony Morgan's age are irrelevant, he isn't.
