It may just be me, but I find it somewhat ironic on the day after Freehold announces its closing, Robert Bongiorno is driving there.

I believe he took many horse folks for some serious dough in a scam, never was charged criminally or in a civil suit, and now is driving just weeks before the oldest racetrack in America, shuts down (And who can forget his daughter as a leading trainer, and has never been seen on a horse - but does ride two legged creatures).

In all seriousness, Nick Surick should get a one-day prison pass, have a horse win the last race ever there, and come in the golf cart to take the photo. It would be a fitting end!

I know Nick Surick got sentenced to 6 1/2 years in federal prison and I know he appealed the conviction, and I haven't heard anything since. Does anyone know if he started serving his sentence or not?

He’s been in  for almost a year now. He has about 3 years to go according the federal inmate website. I agree with SmokingJoe. Freehold should have a free replica prison jumpsuit day give away in honor of Sandals before they close down.

A little fun and a little serious on something here.  I read somewhere there was a small percentage of people that said Apollo 13 mission was a hoax (approximately 5% give or take).

They still do polls today. It goes higher than that actually, I've heard that the numbers range from about 5% up to 20% (maybe more). I just don't remember, and I am glad I don't. LOL.

How many more chances will this guy get?  Robs everyone and walks around like he's something special, how he walks in and out of paddocks without being touched I will never get.
